The passive-alias Extract configuration is to set up a restricted execution of Oracle GoldenGate data capture. In this configuration, the extract on the source is passive extracts, which doesn't have target system's IP and GoldenGate Manager port number. Instead, the alias extracts configured on the target has the IP and GoldenGate Manager port number of the source system. The extract process on the source is initiated by the target after the connection between the source and target is established
You would use the passive-alias extract configuration when a replication target system resides in a trusted intranet zone while the source is in a less trusted zone. In this case, the security policy will not allow the less trusted zone to contain information of a system in a trusted zone, including the IP address and port number.
