Keynotes
- Larry started the Oracle Cloud story by emphasizing that Oracle provides SaaS (Software as a Service), PaaS (Platform as a Service) and Iaas (Infrastructure as a Service) all together. He highlighted three major areas in SaaS: Customer Experience Management (4257 customers), Human Capital Management (5359 customers) and Enterprise Resource Planning (304 customers). For SaaS, Larry also talked about the new Data as Service based on the acquisition of BlueKai. For Oracle IaaS, Larry explained that it allows users to move Oracle Databases and Java Applications to Cloud with a push of a button and user can choose to fallback as needed. Larry also mentioned that Oracle will be providing an open cloud development platform. Some important product updates include the Oracle Database Platform as a Service with Database 12c (Multitenant, In-Memory, Encryption and Compression) and the Big Data SQL support.
- Larry also announced new engineered systems including the Zero Data Loss Recovery Appliance, Exalytics X4-4 and Sparc M7 Chip.
- Walgreen: For retail, Walgreen is working on store transformations with a new loyalty program and a personalized way to engage customers. For pharmacy, Walgreen is building a health cloud to share medical information. Both of these have be on high security standards.
- GE: works on simplifying IT with Cloud deployments, which provides fast mobile access for both employees and customers.
- Dunnhumby: is building a cloud-based platform to handle and analyze big data, and setting up real-time personalized communications with the customer to gain their loyalty.
- Xerox: works on converging systems to drive consistency of the business.
- Intel: works on providing targeted data-driven marketing.
- Enterprise Mobility: Oracle provides the mobile application framework, mobile security, and the mobile cloud services which make services accessible from anywhere.
- Identity Management: the offer is a centralized and secure identity management.
- Service Integration: includes service integration (integration cloud service) and BPM services.
- Data Integration: provides consistent data movement with Oracle GoldenGate and ODI across all sources, enabling metadata management and governance, and data quality on top of that.
- Content Management and Collaboration: includes the Oracle document cloud service.
- For Cloud, Andy highlighted three major technologies: Multi-tenant Infrastructure, which is great for Test to Dev (Snapshot Clone) and Cloud, Exadata and the Zero Data Loss Recovery Appliance, a new engineered system providing real-time redo transport, incremental change update, is built on top of Exadata.
- For Big data, Andy highlighted the dual format In-Memory Database, which runs 100x faster and is transparent to applications, and Big Data SQL support.
