Step 1: Check the current MySQL version.
You can login to MySQL database to find the information there. Then, you can check the library name with the following command:
repoquery --whatprovides mysql-5.5*
Then, you can remove the MySQL 5.5 installation with the following command:
sudo yum remove mysql55-server-0:5.5.46-1.10.amzn1.x86_64, mysql-config-5.5.46-1.10.amzn1.x86_64
You can install MySQL 5.6 with the yum command shown as follows:
sudo yum localinstall http://repo.mysql.com/mysql-community-release-el6-5.noarch.rpm -y sudo yum install mysql-community-server -y
