Far Sync introduces a light-weight Oracle instance with a standby control file, standby redo logs, archive redo logs but not data files. The redo log shipping from the primary to the Far Sync instance is synchronized. The far sync instance then forwards the redo logs asynchronously in real-time to the standby instance. During the failover, the standby instance obtains the last committed redo from the Far Sync instance for zero data loss as described in the following diagrams.
