Genuine Fraud by E. Lockhart tells a story that is very similar to The Talent Mr. Ripley by Patricia Highsmith. In the story, Julie was an orphan who was asked by a wealthy heiress's parents to search back their daughter. She ended up killing the heiress, Imogen and then pretended to be Imogen herself. What makes the story more interesting is that even from the beginning when Imogen's mom believed that Julie and Imogen studied at the same high school was a lie. Julie was just a catering girl for the high school event pretending to be her roommate who was drunk that morning. In this story, everything started from lies, filled with lies, and yet Julie lives on well. Telling the story in reverse makes the book difficult to read. However,it's still interesting to find another version of Mr. Ripley. The presentation of self in everyday life. This guy Goffman had the idea that in different situations, you perform yourself differently. Your character isn’t static. It’s an adaptation. the best way to avoid having your heart broken was to pretend you don’t have one. |
