This examples explains how Oracle GoldenGate determines default OS charset (i.e., default charset for param/obey/def/rpt files).
The followings are used to determine the default OS character set:
- LC_ALL (LINUX, UNIX Environment for OGG 11.2)
- OGG_ICUCHARSET (LINUX, UNIX Environment for OGG 12.1+) . The default OS charset is UTF-8.
- System Code Page (Windows)
Note: OGG_ICUCHARSET is an internal parameter. It can be used to overwrite the OS charset in 12.1+. If there's multibyte characters in obey files(such as 'add trandata ' ), OGG_ICUCHARSET is the only option to resolve the problem (i.e. OGG_ICUCHARSET=euc-jp). CHARSET parameter only applies to extract/replicat parameter files. Obey file and ggsci command don't respect that parameter setting.
