Details: After setting up GoldenGate replication, I got the following error message:
ERROR OGG-00446 Oracle GoldenGate Capture for Oracle, extdat.prm: error 2 (No such file or directory) opening redo log /oracle/oradata/OGGSRCDBA/redo03.log for sequence 69 Not able to establish initial position for sequence 34, rba 0.
How to resolve this issue?
Answer: This is normally because the log files are deleted. If this is a RAC database, please refer to the following SR:
Answer: This is normally because the log files are deleted. If this is a RAC database, please refer to the following SR:
- Extract Process Abending Due to Ogg-00446 Could Not Find Archived Log for Sequence Xxxxx Th 1 (Doc ID 1453569.1)
- For classic capture, you need to REGISTER EXTRACT group_name LOGRETENTION command.
- For Integrated Capture, LOGRETENTION is automatically enabled.
Why my database cloud servcie delete the archive log files before Oracle GoldenGate replicating the data?
DBCS backup module could executing RMAN FORCE delete (see DBAAS_* Incremental backup tags in the traces). This can cause deleting the archive Logs before they are processed by Oracle GoldenGate.
The fix for this archive log deletion issue has been included in the most recent RPM 17.3.5.1.0. Please ensure you get your DBaaS upgraded to that version as soon as possible using dbpatchm https://docs.oracle.com/en/cloud/paas/database-dbaas-cloud/csdbi/update-cloud-tooling-using-dbpatchm.html so you don't run into this situation in the future.
