You can find the binary log directory with the following SQL command:
mysql> show variables like 'datadir'; +---------------+---------------------------------------------+ | Variable_name | Value | +---------------+---------------------------------------------+ | datadir | C:\ProgramData\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.5\Data\ | +---------------+---------------------------------------------+ 1 row in set (0.00 sec)
If you didn't specify the directory location for the bin log in the configuration file, such as using "log-bin=bin.log". MySQL will use the default data directory location to store the binary log files.
- On LINUX, the typical defaults are /user/local/mysql/data for binary/source installation and /var/lib/mysql for RPM packages.
- On Windows, the default directory are C:\ProgramData\MySQL\ (for Windows 2008 server) and C:\Documents and Settings\All users\Application Data\MySQL depending on the Windows Versions.
Why I can't find the C:\ProgramData folder?
C:\ProgramData is a hidden folder. You can just type the folder name in explorer to find it's content.
